| [Tuning] With Uncle Sonny |
Yesterday was our piano tuning day. Uncle Sonny Lim is our tuner.
He is introduced by Mun Kai Piano Company.
Our appointment is at 10 am. Uncle Sonny came half an hour earlier and spent around an hour tuning our piano. Now our baby grand piano is responding so much faster and it is much more sensitive to touch. Uncle Sonny said the condition of our 29 year old piano is very good. Piano is like wine, gets better with age.
First he checked to make sure that every key is working, then he started tuning using intervals, for example 3rd,5th then octave, 11th etc. Once Uncle Sonny started to work, we can tell that he is a very experience tuner. He insisted on tuning with his own listening instead of using a machine. He said only a human ear can tell if the keys are in harmony.
Uncle Sonny also waxed the tracks of our piano music rack, it is working smoothly now.
